One department, the Service for the Foreign Born, was founded in 1903 to help new immigrants adapt to life in the United States. The collection consists of this department of the NCJW's New York and Brooklyn Sections' case files dealing with the agency's efforts to help refugees adjust to the United States, its work to locate immigrants' missing relatives and friends, and administrative records of the Service for the Foreign Born.

 Abstract:  The collection contains an English translation of a pamphlet entitled "On Zionism". The pamphlet consists of one letter from Rabbi Liepman Philip Prins of Amsterdam to Rabbi Isaiah Silberstein of Weitzen, dated June 24, 1904. Gertrude Hirschler translated the letter from a German translation of the original Hebrew (now lost), and wrote the letter's introduction and commentary.

This letter is an attempt to convince more people to join the Friends and help support the Conservatoire.
