 Abstract:  The collection contains photo albums with photographs of Rabbi Silberman, his family, Karlsruhe and other subjects. It also includes a diary with poetry and some illustrations, dedicated to Fillie Silberman by her classmates (in German, 1921-1924), and an unidentified notebook, circa 1963, filled with notes on a variety of topics and drafts of sermons for several important occasions.

 Abstract:  The collection consists of a pamphlet in Hebrew requesting money be sent to Rabbi Eliyahu Landau to support him while he works on a project to publish the unpublished works of his ancestor, Rabbi Eliyahu of Vilna, known as the Vilna Gaon. The pamphlet includes letters from many of the major rabbis at the time from all over the world, encouraging people to send support to Rabbi Landau.

 Abstract:  Rabbi Henry Gutterman was born in 1883 in Kalvaria, Lithuania, and he received rabbinic ordination from the Slobodka Yeshiva in 1903, and then again from Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary in 1908. He emigrated to the United States and in 1910 he moved to Scranton, PA to become a community rabbi there. He died in 1966. The collection consists of correspondence, clippings, notes, and stamps which he wrote and collected.

The five letters in the collection are in a variety of languages, including Hebrew, Spanish and English.

 Abstract:  Orthodox Jewish overseas relief organization affiliated with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. Established in October, 1914 to help Jews suffering as a result of the outbreak of World War I. After the war, the Central Relief Committee shifted its attention from providing economic relief to Orthodox Jewry overseas to preserving its religious and cultural identity. CRC supported hundreds of yeshivot in Europe and Palestine through 1950, when its affiliation with the JDC ceased. The Federated Council of Israel Institutions succeeded the CRC.

 Abstract:  Orthodox Jewish relief organization established in 1939 initially to provide funds for rabbis and religious students in war-torn Europe and to work for their emigration. Involved in negotiations with Germans to save Jews from concentration camps, and provided assistance to Jews who fled Europe to places such as Japan and Shanghai. Provided spiritual rehabilitation to concentration camp survivors following World War II, and arranged for visas for refugee rabbis and religious students to the United States.
