 Abstract:  Charles Rubinstein was a Jewish businessman and an active participant in Jewish communal life. During World War II he worked to obtain immigration rights for Jewish refugees. The collection contains Charles Rubinstein's correspondence to important officials concerning immigrants and refugees, including Representative James M. Fitzpatrick, John K. Davis, the American Consul General in Warsaw, and Senator Robert F. Wagner.

 Abstract:  Kate Diamant Caro was a German-born Jewish activist. She and her family survived the Holocaust by hiding in Belgium. Mrs. Caro's brother Maurice Diamant was active in Rescue Children, Inc. operations in Belgium in 1946. Mrs. Caro brought Charles Caro (no relation) and Irene Gutman to New York in 1947 for a Busy Buddies fundraising luncheon (coordinated by affluent American women to assist the orphans) and helped arrange for their adoptions by American families. The collection contains a tape recording and transcript of the interview with Mrs. Caro.

The tape narrates their rescue and fundraising activities with Vaad Hatzala and Rescue Children, Inc.

 Abstract:  The collection consists of a typed reflection by Lucie R. Weinstein on her days as a student at the Realschule in Bad Berleburg, Germany and subsequent escape from the Holocaust. With the help of friends, her family escaped to America in 1941. In the late 1990s, Lucie worked to establish a memorial to Jewish victims from Bad Berleburg who died in the Holocaust. The collection includes a speech given by Weinstein in Bad Berleburg at the dedication ceremony in May 2000.
