 Abstract:  Rabbi Eliezer Silver was born in Lithuania in 1882, and received Rabbinic ordination in Dvinsk in 1906. He emigrated to the United States in 1907, where he was involved with relief and rescue efforts of Jews during World War I and World War II. The collection, which is comprised entirely of photocopies, consists of commentaries, correspondence, official documents and photographs belonging to him.

 Abstract:  Irving M. Bunim was a businessman, Jewish lay leader, and major figure in the Vaad Hatzala to help Jewish refugees. The collection contains photographs, telegrams, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and other material chiefly related to the Rabbi Jacob Joseph School, Vaad Hatzala, Young Israel, and Bunim's book, Ethics From Sinai.

 Abstract:  Orthodox Jewish overseas relief organization affiliated with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. Established in October, 1914 to help Jews suffering as a result of the outbreak of World War I. After the war, the Central Relief Committee shifted its attention from providing economic relief to Orthodox Jewry overseas to preserving its religious and cultural identity. CRC supported hundreds of yeshivot in Europe and Palestine through 1950, when its affiliation with the JDC ceased. The Federated Council of Israel Institutions succeeded the CRC.
