 Abstract:  The American Jewish Historical Society (AJHS) was founded in 1892 to foster awareness and appreciation for Jewish culture and heritage. In 1898, it held its seventh annual meeting in Philadelphia. The collection contains a copy of the Publications of the AJHS No. 8, with an invitation card, a program, newspaper clippings, a list of attendees, and correspondence with Charles J. Cohen regarding the seventh annual meeting of the AJHS.

 Abstract:  Louis Levine, and American businessman and Jewish communal leader, worked tirelessly for a variety of Jewish causes. Levine's papers relate to his activities in the Jewish Council for Russian War Relief, the Independent Order B'rith Shalom, Yeshiva University, and the American Jewish Congress. Other material includes correspondence, legal and financial documents, leases, and building plans concerning his real estate and contracting business (1932-1953).

 Abstract:  Orthodox Jewish overseas relief organization affiliated with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. Established in October, 1914 to help Jews suffering as a result of the outbreak of World War I. After the war, the Central Relief Committee shifted its attention from providing economic relief to Orthodox Jewry overseas to preserving its religious and cultural identity. CRC supported hundreds of yeshivot in Europe and Palestine through 1950, when its affiliation with the JDC ceased. The Federated Council of Israel Institutions succeeded the CRC.
