 Abstract:  Rabbi Eliezer Silver was born in Lithuania in 1882, and received Rabbinic ordination in Dvinsk in 1906. He emigrated to the United States in 1907, where he was involved with relief and rescue efforts of Jews during World War I and World War II. The collection, which is comprised entirely of photocopies, consists of commentaries, correspondence, official documents and photographs belonging to him.

 Abstract:  Emanuel Alexandre was an attorney, art collector, and a close personal friend of former Yeshiva University president Dr. Samuel Belkin. Mr. Alexandre donated his entire collection of 3,000 books to Yeshiva University Library in 1977. The archival collection includes an invitation to the luncheon of the American Biblical Encyclopedia Society, a list of participants at a dinner for the Jewish Publication Society of America, and a meeting announcement of a landsmanshaft synagogue.

 Abstract:  Etienne Jean Kazar was born in 1919. He enlisted in the British Army at Sarafand in 1941, and served in Palestine and Europe during World War II. The collection consists of 6 photographs of Kazar, 4 medals he was awarded, and a "Soldier's Service and Pay Book", which contains some personal/biographical information and summary information of his military service.

 Abstract:  The First Independent Hebrew Congregation of Jamaica (Queens, N.Y.), also known as Congregation Ahavas Israel, was founded in 1900 and their synagogue building was built in 1905. The congregation fell into financial hardships in the mid-1970s, and sold their building in 1980 to the Bethany French Baptist Church. The collection consists of a minute book, cemetery records, legal documents, and financial records of the Congregation during the final years of its existence.
