Organizational History

The Yeshiva of the South Yeshiva High School for Boys and the Goldie Margolin High School for Girls were founded in 1964 as an extension of the Memphis Hebrew Academy in Memphis, Tennesee. Along with the high school divisions, the Yeshiva of the South also housed the Belz Beth Midrash for post high school Torah learning. The first high school class graduated in 1968. Today, the Memphis Hebrew Academy and the Yeshiva of the South are one institution with classes from pre-K through 12th grade.

Scope and Contents

The collection contains the 1978 yearbook of the Yeshiva of the South and the Goldie Margolin High School for Girls as well as a program from the commencement exercises of that year. The yearbook contains letters from the principals, pictures of the teachers and students, drawings and poetry by the students, ads, and a list of students and alumni. The program contains a list of the graduates and the order of events at the commencement ceremony, as well as a list of awards that were given out to graduating seniors.
