Scope and Contents

The collection consists of a small booklet, published by the National Metalworkers Union of Israel, which lists the wages of workers in the metal industry in Israel in 1959-1960. The book first lists the different types of workers, professional and non-professional, as well as various bonuses that one could obtain along with the regular salary, such as a seniority bonus or a pay increase for each child a person has. There is also a list of the regular yearly raises in each part of the industry. Following these descriptions are tables of figures, giving the salaries of these workers, depending on whether they are single or married and how many children they have. Also included in the book is an explanation of the amount of income tax which these workers are obligated to pay.
