Beginning September 12, 1954, the American Jewish community celebrated its 300th anniversary of Jewish settlement in America. The festivities began with a consecration ceremony at Congregation Shearith Israel in New York, and concluded on June 5, 1955 in Carnegie Hall. The events were planned by the American Jewish Tercentenary Committee, an independent organization incorporated in 1952. The Committee was led by Ralph Samuel, a former president of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies and chairman of the American Jewish Committee, and consisted of 300 individuals.
The collection consists of pamphlets tracing the history of Jewish settlement in America and menus from a dinner held by the American Jewish Tercentenary Committee.
