Born in Worms on November 12, 1873, Siegfried Guggenheim was a lawyer, and chairman of the Jewish community of Offenbach from 1933 to 1938. He emigrated to the United States in 1939 and died in New York City on January 30, 1961. He edited several editions of the Offenbach Haggadah.
The collection contains typescript changes for the second edition of the Offenbacher Haggadah edited by Guggenheim, tributes to Guggenheim by scholars and rabbis, photographs of works of art by Guggenheim, correspondence with Rabbi Leo Jung (1957-1960) and Rabbi Isaac Herzog (1949), letters and testimonials from Carel Jan Smit and others concerning the immigration of Dr. Wilhelm von Hahn, and reprints of scholarly articles.
