Abstract:The collection consists of letters between various rabbis recommending books which they should purchase, as well as some blank letterhead belonging to one G. Wolf Margolis, Rabbi of the United Reform Community of N.Y., and a business card belonging to one Rabbi Isaac Sodden of the Congregation Ohav Sholom in Brooklyn, N.Y. The five letters in the collection are in a variety of languages, including Hebrew, Spanish and English.

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of letters between various rabbis recommending books to purchase, as well as some blank letterhead belonging to Rabbi Gavriel Zev Margaliyot of the United Reform Community of NY, and a business card belonging to Rabbi Isaac Sodden of Congregation Ohav Sholom in Brooklyn, N.Y.

There are five letters in the collection. The first is in Hebrew and is from Rabbi J. M. Morgenstern of Brooklyn NY to an unnamed rabbi, and pertains to a book by Rabbi Yosef Engel entitled "Gilyonei Hashas." The second is in Spanish from the Jewish World Congress of South America on April 23, 1968, and pertains to a book entitled "Oye Israel" by Mordechai Yaacobi. Attached to the letter is an advertisement for the book, including some reviews of it and a photograph of the cover. The third letter is in Hebrew and is from Yaakov David Gardan to an unknown recipient, regarding Gardan's book "Dor V'dorshav." The fourth is in Hebrew and English and is from Rabbi Juda Altusky of Bronx NY, regarding his book "Thoughts of a Jew." The fifth letter is in Hebrew and is from Rabbi Pinchas Grunwald of Brooklyn NY to an unknown recipient, regarding a book entitled "Hachana D'rabbah," written by his grandfather, Rabbi Moshe Grunwald, who was also the author of the book "Arugot Habosem."
