Abstract: | Bruno Zecharias Kisch (1890-1966) was a medical doctor, biochemist, and Jewish scholar. He was one of the founders of the Juedisches Lehrhaus in Cologne and taught at Yale and Yeshiva Universities in the United States after leaving Nazi Germany. The collection contains correspondence relating to Kisch's involvement in Kehillath Jawne Austrian Jewish Congregation, medical journals from Germany, medical correspondence, drafts of articles, and manuscripts on various scientific topics. |

Bruno Zecharias Kisch (1890-1966) was a medical doctor, biochemist, and Jewish scholar. He was one of the founders of the Juedisches Lehrhaus in Cologne and taught experimental medicine, physiology, and biochemistry at the University of Cologne until 1936, when he was forced to leave Nazi Germany. He taught at Yale and Yeshiva Universities in the United States subsequent to his emigration. He was a founder and president of the American College of Cardiology and made many medical contributions.
The collection contains correspondence relating to Kisch's involvement in Kehillath Jawne Austrian Jewish Congregation in New York City, as well as circulars from the American Federation of Jews from Central Europe regarding the status of refugees. The American Federation of Jews from Central Europe was established by Jewish victims of Nazism from Central Europe in the United States. The collection also includes medical journals from Germany, medical correspondence, drafts of articles, and manuscripts on various scientific topics.
