Scope and Contents

The collection consists of a 32-page work written by University of Bridgeport students Harvey Gochros and Roslin Rappaport for a course in the University's Sociology Department. It describes the current Jewish community of Bridgeport, focusing on religious education, language, synagogue membership and other communal institutions. It also briefly describes the Jewish religious practices of Sabbath and holiday observance and of dietary laws, and provides a short summary of Jewish immigration to the United States in general and to Bridgeport in particular.
