The American Federation of Jews from Central Europe was the central representative agency of over thirty local and national organizations established by Jewish victims of Nazism from Central Europe in the United States. It was incorporated in New York in 1941 to safeguard their rights and to sponsor social service programs.
The collection consists of a typescript of a survey entitled "Former Jewish Communal Property in Germany: A Questionanaire Survey", which examined communal property owned by Jewish communities and welfare agencies in Germany prior to November 1938. The study was compiled and analyzed by the American Federation of Jews from Central Europe, Inc. and sponsored by the American Jewish Committee. The collection also contains reports, memos, information bulletins and a small amount of correspondence relating to Central European Jews in post-war Europe.
